BTS Candy Shoot

A few months back, I had a shoot with Candy magazine and was styled by the Candy Council of Cool girls. Honestly, I really remembered my high school days during the shoot because I was exactly like them 6 years back. Oh, memories.
We shot at Heima store (such a cool place) in Cubao X. It was my first time in that area and I was amazed by all the stores there. I'm definitely going back again. Oh, except that there was a really rude guard that kept stopping us every time I'd take outfit photos. I understand if it's his job to stop us if we need a permit but even if I was inside the Heima store and the photographer was a few steps outside the store he'd still  stop us. Anyway, good vibes come back.
There were so many adorable furniture and home decos. I love this closet with "exotic chinese food" written all over it. Now speaking of food...
What's the best meal to order during tapings or shoots? Mcdonalds!!! I just had to order Big n' Tasty burger meals for everyone. Yes, I am a messy eater. The Council of Cool girls were too shy to dig in so I had to be the first to eat before they all started eating.
It was a very short and fun shoot and I was so happy with my look. I actually haven't been styled for the longest time since they always want my style and personality for shoots. In fairness, nag research and COC girls! Hahaha. I still can't show you guys the final layout since the issue isn't out yet, but watch out for it. It's a very special feature. BMS.

Candy Style Awards

It was the first ever Candy Style Awards last week and I'm still in shock- thank you Candy Magazine for awarding me as one of the Style Stars. I started reading Candy when I was 14 and got my first feature at the age of 15. It was a tiny picture at the last page, wherein Candy fans can just send/email anything and the editors choose what to publish. I was extremely overwhelmed to see myself- and from then, I knew I wanted to be part of Candy- so I interned for them. They taught me how to write, style and even model! You can call me a proud Candy Girl.
*Special thanks to Celyn Jaravata for taking my photos and Jing Monis Salon/Juni Sierra for doing my hair and make up.*
I also got to meet my readers and chat with them for a bit- it was indeed a night full of fun and excitement. Here's what I wore to the event:
(Boosteeyay dress, TLTSN earrings, Kate Spade clutch, House of Luxe bangles, Feet for a Queen heels)

Baby Doll look. I really dressed girly for this event, I was even matching with their theme- pink! I just love how fluffy the bottom part of my dress was but to balance out the cuteness of my look, I wore these incredible bangles from House of Luxe. It's edgy but at the same time the colors still make it look chic. The spike bangles really made a huge effect, making my outfit more "me". BMS.

Announcements

I totally forgot the time when candymag.com interviewed me for our behind-the-scenes Style Star shoot. They asked me several questions so if you want to know more about me, just click HERE and watch my video. Remember my post a few days ago about me being part of the Candy Style Awards? Well, if you want to mingle and bond with your favorite personalities, now's your chance! See you all on May 4. Thank you again Candy Magazine!

Now, this brand has really gotten me excited. Uniqlo is a global apparel brand that does not dictate trends but allows individuals to express themselves by what they wear. I think it's quite obvious with these super cute tees I just posted. As they prepare to open their first branch in MOA this June, they want us to express how we speak and feel through their unique concepts and designs of UT. UT is unlike any other T-shirt. It is a tool to “make a statement.” As embodied in the UT Philosophy -- “A T-shirt is more than just a T-shirt. It’s an expression of who you are. Where you’ve been. What you love.  That’s the UT philosophy.” UNIQLO collaborates with highly recognized names in order to create designs that captures people’s desire for self-expression and even if they collaborated with international icons like Barbie, Hello Kitty, Metal Gear, etc, they are still very affordable.
Now, before they open their first branch in Manila, they are having a "UT Vote and Win" campaign at the end of April wherein you can win UT goodies or even A TRIP TO JAPAN! Just simply like Uniqlo's Facebook Fan Page so you can tune in and wait for their announcements.
Lastly, Call It Spring will be having a meet the bloggers event and everyone is welcome to drop by. Expect make up services from The Face Shop, a photobooth so you can take photos with us and a 10% discount from Call It Spring. Cool, right? But that's not it! Get a chance to win P5,000 GCs and shop with me! All you have to do is:

      1. Like Call It Spring's Facebook Fan Page
      2. Click on the SWEEPSTAKES icon (found under the cover image) to enter the contest
      3. Fill out the form and choose me as your favorite blogger so we can shop and bond
      4. Tweet this, " I want to win P5,000 GCs from Call It Spring and shop with Laureen Uy! www.breakmystyle.com "

Shop, mingle with us and you'll definitely have a great time seeing my kalog and becky side. If you're planning to go, make sure you join the contest- you'll never know, you might just be the lucky winner. See you all there! BMS.

This April 2012

I would just like to share these wonderful features about me this April 2012. Make sure to grab a copy!
Candy Magazine April 2012 with Jennifer Lawrence on the cover. It's their first time ever to have the Candy Style Awards and I'm so honored to be part of it. When they emailed me, I couldn't stop myself from screaming because I've been a reader since I was 13 and now I get to be part of this. They'll be having an awards night on May 4 at the Rockwell Tent from 5-9pm so see you there!
Philippine Star "Young Star" section last April 13, 2012. They had a feature called "16x16" wherein they featured different personalities like Valerie Weigmann (a model, who also posed for Stylebreak before), Daryl Chang (Preview's Fashion Editor), Euric Lumanog (a DJ), Rez Toledo (a very talented singer) and more. So happy to be part of the list! If you want to see the entire article, click HERE.
Meg Magazine April 2012 with Toni Gonzaga on the cover. A lot of people have been asking me photos of my room/closet/shoe collection. Well, if you want to see it- here's my entire feature. You can't really see everything here though, but if do you have a copy, I hope you get inspired.

And speaking of features, please watch my feature as a fashion blogger this Sunday, 7:45pm on ETC's show Etcetera. I will be sharing things I love in my closet, how I started in the fashion industry, what keeps me inspired and a lot more. Make sure you're tuned in! Thank you so much Candy, Meg, ETC and Philippine Star for the wonderful feature. I'm truly honored and grateful. BMS.

Prom Tip 1

Last month, I shot with candymag.com for their February prom article. Since we didn't have prom when I was in high school, I was able to share all my dreams and thoughts about attending one and what you should wear when going to prom. Every Monday, they'll be releasing new photos of me wearing gowns in different themes- and of course, style tips are also there.
For this week, the theme is Vintage. If you want to check out my entire outfit and read my tips, click HERE. BMS.
