Styling Tips

(Call It Spring hat, Topshop top/ shorts, vintage corset, Alexander Wang bag, Suelas x Laureen Uy flats)

So everyone's been talking about the Close Up Summer Solstice this Saturday and a lot of people have been asking for styling tips as well on what to wear to the music festival so I decided to do this post... So here goes:
1. Wear something light- by light, I mean choose fabrics that are breezy because you'll be jumping and dancing a lot. You wouldn't want to wear something uncomfortable, right?
2. Do not wear heels- well, sneaker wedges are an exception. Flats/ sneakers are probably the best options.
3. The smaller the better... when it comes to choosing a bag. Just bring the important things you need so your shoulder won't hurt the entire night.
4. Corsets are my favorite whenever I attend music festivals. Try it.
5. Don't wear accessories that will hurt you or cause inconvenience. Expect that the venue will be crowded and you'll be dancing a lot too so don't try and hurt anybody, especially yourself, with spike bracelets and all.
Speaking of Close Up Summer Solstice- please watch this video and learn more styling tips from me. I'm so excited to party this weekend! See you all there!!! BMS.

My Kind Of Color

(Maria Clothing necklace, Next Jeans vest/ jeans, Superb Finds bangle, Hued bag, Alexander Wang heels)

I'm sure all of us have their own set of trendy clothes, but no matter how many new items of clothing we buy/have, we always end up coming back to the same comfortable basics. I have here this vest and jeans from Next Jeans. I think these are some of the basic must-haves because of it's style and color. I’ve always been a "terno" girl and if my day permits me, I'd love to wear ones like these more often. The tiger detail on each side of the collar gave the basic vest a subtle but definitely lovely effect. I also brought with me this transparent bag from Hued, I know how we can see a lot of transparent bags but this really caught my eye because of its studded details. What I love about with this look is it's basic yet modern, youthful yet sophisticated and striking yet wearable. BMS.

Skull and Studs

(Lemon Shop hat/ top, SM Accessories necklaces/ bracelets, Casio watch, Alexander Wang bag, Bubbles shorts, Das shoes)

Style is very important. I love how it can be used to express personality and you also have a lot of room for creativity. I love working with my outfits to help define my own sense of style and taste. I'm still at that experimental phase and I really find myself loving camo items now. Of course, this skull top is really a wonderful piece to pair with the shorts. The fringes on the back of this sleeveless top will really catch attention and make them stare at your outfit longer. This top is perfect for casual parties because it's loose and you'll feel breezy the entire time. It's also the right balance between being edgy and looking sexy. To add an extra impact to the look, I wore this cute hat from Lemon Shop. I've been asked many times where I get hats like these and my previous ones were always  from my out of the country trips, so I'm happy to announce that you can buy it locally/ online now. Since my look is laid back, I glammed it up by wearing these Das shoes. BMS.

Leather Love

(SM Accessories necklace/ bangles, My Spirit Inc vest/ skirt, Alexander Wang bag, Alexander Mcqueen belt, Sleeh booties)

Two trends in one look: this army green vest and this fabulous leather skirt. This outfit is literally everywhere right now- and there's a reason why everyone is into this look. Camo and army pieces are such great items for adding that needed edge to even the simplest of looks, which is why I think owning a piece like this is a wardrobe must! I was on my way to a shoot when I wore this and it was the perfect get up because the colors weren’t too loud and the structure was just right. Seriously, I am in love with this skirt. When I came across this leather skirt, I was instantly gushing over it- the shape creates a really feminine silhouette but the material of the leather gives it that real hardwearing edge to my look. Rock and roll! Skirts like these are flattering to most body shapes, accentuating the waist and flaring out and slimming the legs! Good thing that My Spirit Inc has these must love items. BMS.

Balancing

(Alexander Mcqueen top, Girl Candies necklaces/ bracelets/ rings, Alexander Wang bag, Topshop shorts, Alaia booties)

This was what I wore when I went to the Philippine Star shoot. I wanted to be a bit more relaxed so I wore just a loose top and glammed up the entire look by wearing these amazing accessories from Girl Candies. Never really missing from the fashion scene, these arm candies really strike me with versatility and a clear sense of evolution. I used to love wearing just thick bangles but when I tried piling on these thin ones, I couldn't stop myself from doing it again and again.  It exudes an effortless style. These accessories gave me a youthful sophistication with attitude. Balancing a neutral top that expresses simplicity with an overall clean concept might be another smart way to highlight the powerful accessories I wore.
By the way, I honestly think this sweater will be one of my overused piece of clothing. Ever. BMS.

Printed Pop

(Goody hair tie, Super sunnies, Girls are Weird necklace, H&M top, Alexander Wang bag, Jewels and Charms leggings/ rings, Alaia heels)

Even though the weather is gloomy, even though it rains all the time, even though umbrellas are the most common accessories at the moment- there’s no need for you to feel drab and grey! Printed items are bright, bold and can truly bring the summer vibe back. A pop of color will brighten up everyone’s day- so I wore these really pop-ish leggings from Jewels and Charms. I felt like rocking the print trend but want it a bit more casual, so I wore my favorite (and overused) loose top. The tight fit of the leggings made sure my figure looked great and the bold print will allowed me to stand out. The beauty of this pair of leggings is because of the amazing variety of colors and print. BMS.
So I was able to meet my UCB x BMS winner Jianne Samin and I got to shop and bond with her too! She also brought her sister and a few family members with her. They were all so nice!
I started by asking her what her style is and what she normally wears on a daily basis. Then I just gave her tips on what items she needs to put in her closet. I look like her ate. Haha!
I also encouraged her to be more experimental when it comes to dressing up. She’s a plain dresser, so I told her to change it this 2013. Good thing UCB comes with their wide selection of quality items that you can mix and match to create a look that you can standout.
UCB has an exciting color scheme and cuts that make the casual apparel collection an absolute must-have. After a while, she got comfortable with me already and we started talking like close friends. It was so fun shopping with her because she’s such a sweetheart. We enjoyed our quick peek around the store.
Here I am giving her tips on how to wear denim polo. You can button it all the way up, leave it open or tie it in front. Since Jianne is a simple girl who loves to go out during the weekend (probably malling or having coffee with her friends), I chose a pair of brown jeans that she can wear all the time. The jeans fit her perfectly plus the neutral color gave her that basic but trendy look. I also fell in love with these basic suede flats that I chose for her. Black + suede is a classic!
Get your hands on these stylish shoes and complete your ensemble. I love these basic suede flats. So classy!!!
She even brought a copy of our Preview cover last September 2012 and had me sign it. So sweet. Oh, and did I tell you she also got me these super yummy macarons! I think I finished it all in one sitting.
Creating desires and making them achievable is the belief of the brand and the apparel collection. I really enjoyed shopping with Jianne inside UCB. The clothes fit her perfectly, just like how it would fit any other girl! Overall, UCB's collection brings color to the season. The fabric, texture and prints maintain essential practicality without losing your vibrant style.
UCB = fashion and quality. BMS.
